Economic Modelling and Institutional Capacity Development
Supporting more equitable and informed mineral wealth management in Guinea
Challenge
The Simandou Iron Ore Project, one of the world’s largest integrated mining developments, has the potential to reshape Guinea’s economy for generations. Realizing this opportunity requires government institutions capable of understanding and managing the economy-wide impacts of large-scale mining investment.
Approach
DT Global is supporting the Government of Guinea to develop and institutionalize a national Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model capable of analyzing the macroeconomic impacts of major mining investments. Working alongside key ministries, our specialists are strengthening national capability in economic forecasting, fiscal analysis, policy evaluation and cross-government coordination while embedding advanced analytical tools within government systems.
Goal and Results
The assignment is establishing enduring institutional capability that enables government to evaluate impacts on GDP, employment, exports, public revenues, wages and sectoral growth. The work is strengthening evidence-based policy making and supporting more equitable, informed and sustainable management of Guinea’s mineral wealth.
