Environmental and Social Management System and Lender Due Diligence – Masela Abadi LNG Project
Environmental and social management for investment readiness
Challenge
The Masela Abadi Project is one of Indonesia’s largest proposed LNG developments and represented a technically complex investment requiring environmental and social systems capable of satisfying multiple international financing institutions and regulatory authorities.
Approach
Working within demanding delivery timeframes, DT Global developed the project’s integrated Environmental and Social Management System together with a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessment covering both the proposed onshore LNG facility and alternative Floating LNG development scenarios. The work addressed environmental and social risks associated with offshore drilling, dredging, marine transport, workforce accommodation, supply chains and major supporting infrastructure while providing environmental and social due diligence for prospective lenders.
Goals and Results
The resulting management framework aligned the project with the IFC Performance Standards (2012), World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, Equator Principles and Japan Bank for International Cooperation requirements, significantly strengthening investment readiness and providing confidence for project proponents, regulators and financiers.
