Challenge

BHP sought to strengthen its understanding of human rights risks associated with mining operations and ensure that international standards were embedded within operational decision-making rather than treated solely as compliance requirements.

Approach, Goals, and Results

DT Global undertook a comprehensive Human Rights Impact Assessment examining land access, labour practices, contractor management, stakeholder engagement and community relationships. Working closely with operational teams, we identified salient risks and developed practical recommendations for integrating human rights considerations into everyday management systems.

Complementing the assessment, DT Global designed and delivered role-specific training for managers, supervisors and frontline personnel, strengthening organisational capability to identify, manage and respond proactively to human rights risks across the project lifecycle.
