Sustainable Development of Mining in Rwanda
Strengthening the enabling environment for responsible mining investment and growth
Challenge
Recognizing mining as a strategic driver of economic diversification, the Government of Rwanda sought to strengthen governance, improve investment confidence and modernize the institutions supporting sector development.
Approach
DT Global led a comprehensive mining sector reform program that combined governance reform, institutional
strengthening and investment promotion. Working with government agencies, we supported the development of modern geological information systems, strengthened mining cadastre functions, improved regulatory processes and embedded gender equality and social inclusion across sector policy and implementation.
Goals and Results
The program strengthened Rwanda’s enabling environment for responsible private investment, improved sector governance and supported the long-term formalization and competitiveness of one of Africa’s fastest-growing mining industries.
