About

Torge Gerlach serves as the Executive Chairman of DT Global, providing strategic leadership across corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and oversight of the global finance function. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer from the firm’s founding in 2019, leading the organization through a period of significant expansion. Under his leadership, DT Global has tripled in size since inception, substantially expanding its global footprint and development impact.

With more than thirty years of executive leadership experience in international development and professional services, Torge Gerlach has a deep track record of scaling organizations, integrating complex operations, and delivering growth across diverse markets. Prior to DT Global, he spent eleven years at AECOM, most recently serving as President of its U.S.-based international development business, and previously as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Earlier in his career, he cofounded The Services Group, a trade and development consultancy, where he held senior executive leadership roles and led the company through its successful sale to AECOM. He began his career advising World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and USAID-funded programs on economic growth, private sector development, export promotion, and institutional capacity building, with hands-on experience spanning more than 60 countries.

Torge Gerlach holds a Bachelor of Science from Hampshire College and is fluent in English and German, with professional proficiency in French and Spanish.

What’s the coolest thing about your job?
My work has taken me to more than 60 countries, providing firsthand exposure to a wide range of operating environments, cultures, and perspectives. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complex challenges faced by communities and institutions around the world, and how different contexts shape the way solutions are designed and implemented. They have also strengthened my ability to work effectively across cultures and with diverse stakeholders, which is an essential part of delivering meaningful and sustainable development outcomes.

If you could change something in the world, what would it be?
Human behavior. Many of the world’s major challenges — from climate change to conflict — are ultimately influenced by individual and collective choices. Progress in these areas depends on people adopting more responsible, pragmatic, and cooperative approaches to how we use resources, resolve differences, and work toward shared solutions.
