Mark Deards is Head of People and Culture for DT Global Asia-Pacific. In this role, Mark leads a team of HR professionals that supports over 1,400 corporate and project staff across thirty countries.
Mark has over thirty years of strategic and operational Human Resources experience, in both private and public sector companies across a diverse range of industries. Mark has held HR leadership positions with several organizations, including three years as General Manager for an International College in Brisbane. As part of Cardno International Development’s leadership team for the past six years, Mark is passionate about designing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives that align people, culture, and business objectives.
If you could meet any living person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
Sir David Attenborough who, in his life, has seen more ‘things’ on earth than anyone else and would be fascinating to chat with. In addition, from his own first-hand knowledge and experiences, he is an environmentalist and an outspoken advocate of climate change.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give others about life?
To quote Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Oh, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but ensure you learn from them.
