About

Radu is currently the Director of Contracts for DT Global US. In this role he oversees compliance with, negotiations, and interpretation of contractual terms and conditions. He is responsible for developing a robust compliance environment based on continuous staff training, thorough understanding of US government regulations and extensive collaboration with USAID.

Radu’s career in international development started over 20 years ago and has kept him engaged with never ending procurement challenges, contractual perspectives, trainings, and travels. Finding ways to make the process of managing a USAID award more efficient, engaging with international and local partners, training field colleagues, and learning from them the intricacies of international procurement never gets old. While procurement principles are largely the same, the way they are applied in the context of post conflict Somalia, the emerging state of South Sudan, post-Soviet Kazakhstan, politically and socially vulnerable Haiti or Liberia, can be vastly different. Radu is motivated to make sense of this and assist the US government efforts in building better societies. Originally from Moldova, Radu has lived in five countries and never says no to visiting a new place, whether it is for work or for leisure with his family. A big bonus for him is meeting people with extraordinarily different perspectives and passions. He enjoys skiing, cooking, spending time outdoors, and a good conversation with a close friend.

What’s the coolest thing about your job? Getting endless perspectives from my colleagues and friends in the field. One of the biggest rewards of working in international development is the array and diversity of people you meet and the perspectives you get. This aspect of my work never fails to fascinate me and contributes every day to my understanding of how this world works.

If you could meet any living person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why? Alexei Navalnii to understand his drive for a more transparent and fair society despite overwhelming and repeated odds against him and his cause.
