Announcing the third cohort of Emerging Leaders in International Development

Excitement is in the air as DT Global APAC announces the third cohort of participants to join the Emerging Leaders in International Development (ELID) Program.

After a competitive selection process, we selected 20 of the most talented and passionate individuals from across the Asia Pacific region. The cohort includes 16 women and four men, representing 10 different countries. Each participant is dedicated to advancing their country's development and enhancing their leadership skills to create a meaningful impact.

This year, in our largest cohort yet, we have expanded our program to select applicants from all APAC programs across the region, including those funded by the Australian Government, USAID, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, and the European Union.

Leonie Whyte (DT Global APAC’s Head of Program Quality and Gender) said DT Global is honoured to bring together the newest cohort of Emerging Leaders and looks forward to their continued growth and professional development over the next 12 months.

“DT Global is committed to nurturing local leaders in the countries we work. This approach is reinforced through our recently released locally led development framework and is demonstrated through our initiatives like the Emerging Leaders in International Development,” she said.

“Our Emerging Leaders will participate in a 12-month intensive, predominately online learning program, which focuses on different leadership styles, including Adaptive Leadership, and looks at ways they can effectively communicate and incorporate this approach back into their workplaces.”

“They will engage in group and one-on-one coaching sessions, and explore topics such as development effectiveness, decolonization in the international development sector, and the importance of locally led development.”

In early December, ELID participants will attend a week-long professional development retreat in Canberra to attend the Australasian AID Conference. Here they will also take part in intensive in-person training workshops and coaching sessions run by ETMP, an Indigenous-owned and run company specialising in transformational and adaptive leadership.

“I’m excited to meet our newest cohort of Emerging Leaders, along with our talented coaches and presenters. I look forward to hearing their diverse perspectives, exploring our cultural differences and similarities, and discovering how we can all learn from this process,” she said.

Congratulations to all participants. We look forward to sharing your leadership journey!
