The Role of Public Development Banks in Facilitating Access to Climate Finance

12:00 PM12:50 PM UAE

Description

The panel will discuss the role of Public Development Banks (PDBs) in facilitating enhanced access to climate finance to support the implementation of national climate change development priorities in the Pacific. Most Pacific Island countries have a PDB. Still, only some are currently facilitating access to green finance, except for the Fiji Development Bank (FDB), which secured accreditation to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This panel will provide an opportunity to explore the potential for PDBs to engage with multilateral climate financiers, use innovative financing instruments, and structure blended finance transactions to accelerate the implementation of climate change priorities across Pacific Island countries.
