WASHINGTON, DC. (APRIL 9, 2024) – DT Global is proud to announce that Joanne Choe has been appointed to the role of Managing Director for DT Global Asia-Pacific, where she will oversee our DFAT and MFAT-focused portfolio. In this role, Jo will lead a staff of over 1,400 corporate and project staff, implementing programs across more than 25 countries. Jo takes over this role from Colin Adams, whom we thank for leading our APAC office for the last eight years.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Jo in her new role of Managing Director for APAC,” says Torge Gerlach, CEO of DT Global. “Jo has been an integral part of our DT Global team, serving as a senior leader on our program quality and development effectiveness work across our DFAT portfolio, and as a leader within DFAT prior. She is extraordinarily well respected both within our company and in the international development sector, and I can’t wait to see how she continues to build on the tremendous success of our Asia-Pacific portfolio in coordination with her staff and the entire DT Global company.”

Jo began her career at DT Global APAC in 2018, first leading the Pacific program portfolio and most recently serving as the Head of Program Quality and Gender, where she oversaw development effectiveness and gender integration for the whole DT Global APAC portfolio. Prior to joining DT Global, Jo managed international development programs and policy in AusAID/DFAT for 15 years. This included five years posted to Papua New Guinea managing law and justice and subnational governance programs and four years in Fiji with responsibility for the Fiji and Tuvalu bilateral programs and humanitarian response following Tropical Cyclone Winston. Her last role in DFAT was as Senior Gender Specialist in the Gender Equality Branch. Currently, Jo also serves as the Chair of the Board of the International Development Contractors Community in Australia.

“Whether at DT Global or DFAT, my focus has always been on how effective development programs can contribute to lasting positive change,” says Jo. “I am excited for the opportunity to lead DT Global APAC, a company whose values align with my own, and to give our staff the support they need to implement excellent programs in the countries in which we work.”
