Rose Mary Garcia, Ph.D. Appointed as Lead Economist for DT Global US

DT Global is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Rose Mary Garcia to the role of Lead Economist for DT Global’s US office. In this new role, Rose Mary will provide strategic technical expertise, advice, and thought leadership on DT Global’s economic growth work in the international development space.

“Economic development is a critical element affecting billions of people’s lives around the world. I look forward to furthering DT Global’s commitment to help countries and communities experience inclusive growth, address changing market conditions, build resilience to economic and socio-political shocks, and minimize impacts of climate change,” said Rose Mary. “I’m excited to work closely with technical teams not just in DT Global’s economic growth portfolio, but across the company, to ensure that crucial economic systems thinking is integrated into our work, and that learning is translated into knowledge products to further our impact.”

Rose Mary is a versatile economist and leader with over 25 years of experience in applied international economic development. She has managed economic growth teams, served as Chief of Party for USAID implementing partners and programs, and provided advisory services to a range of development funding entities for nearly 20 years. Most recently, she served as Vice President for Economic Growth and Governance at DT Global.

Rose Mary’s work has spanned 16 countries throughout South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Her focus areas within economic growth include youth and workforce development, macro-economic and business-enabling policy reforms, private sector engagement, SME development, decentralization, local economic development, taxation, livelihoods and poverty alleviation, and economic growth diagnostics.

“I’m so excited to have Rose Mary in this role,” said Sloan Mann, DT Global US President. “She has been a key part of our Economic Growth and Governance team for nearly two years, and I can’t wait to see how her work will transform our strategic thought leadership and positioning in the economic development space as a whole.”
