Joost Vandenborre brings a vast knowledge of public procurement and grant management. He is an experienced project director and technical expert and has managed procurement, grants, and contracting for MCAs/MCC, DFID, the Global Fund and the European Commission projects, where he was responsible for all phases of the procurement cycle and contracting processes including establishing procurement systems. He has been with DT Global for the past 23 years. Joost is currently the Project Director for MCA Procurement Agent Services contracts with MCA entities in Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, and Senegal and previously served in the same role in Indonesia, Liberia, Lesotho, Malawi, and Mozambique. In this role, he supervises all activities of the Procurement Agent Team and serves as the Acting Procurement Agent Manager as and when needed.
In Malawi, he was the Team Leader (2014-2018) of the Procurement Oversight and Advisory Services to ESCOM, the national electricity company of Malawi, as well as to EGENCO, the national electricity generation company. From 2010 until 2014, Mr. Vandenborre managed the MCA-Mozambique Procurement Agent Services contract in Maputo, where he successfully completed infrastructure procurements of approximately US$350 million. Prior, he obtained extensive procurement experience on European Commission and DFID projects while based in Brussels. He was inter alia Key Administration and Procurement Expert on an European Commission Project in Vietnam for five years.
What’s your favorite place of all the places you’ve travelled?
Every time I get to go to my father’s garden and have a chat about why our football team is so good/bad while eating a cake made by my mother.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give others about life? The statistical chance of being alive is extremely small, so consider yourself lucky and enjoy it and just try to be a nice person.
