Papua New Guinea has significant challenges with social and economic infrastructure. Access to health, education, and other essential services is particularly low in rural areas, where 85 per cent of the population lives.
The Incentive Fund is an Australian Government competitive grants program that seeks to improve social and economic development outcomes that benefit Papua New Guinean communities, which is aligned with PNG’s Medium Term Development Plan.
A better enabling environment for improved economic growth and service delivery (PNG Medium Term Development Plan III 2018-2022 KRA 2 Goal 2.1)
The Incentive Fund has a long history of supporting organisations and activities across Papua New Guinea. Since 2000, more than PGK 700 million has been awarded to partners in health, education, agriculture, economic development, water and sanitation, and governance and administration.
